"The day has not started until I have knit", says Studio Assistant Ulrike

Ulrike and I met, some years ago, at a Nancy Bass oil painting workshop, we lost touch, until she came to my first Artisan Studio Tour (2016) and then took one my eco printing workshops, in the fall of 2018. At the workshop, I happened to mention that I was looking for a part-time studio assistant... and as they say, the rest is history!

Ulrike has been a life-long knitter, having grown up in Potsdam, Germany (don't all Europeans knit?), she loves all fiber and sells her work at the Crozet Arts Depot. She is also a lover of nature and is an impressive gardener. [She is part of the White Hall Ruritan's and pots up hundreds of divided plants for their spring sale]. She is great to have around the studio, for many reasons, including her correcting some of my plant identifications (oops!) and her great, natural sense of color. Ulrike, her husband and 2 college-aged children have lived in Crozet for 8 years. They are a do-it-yourself, adventurous, & community-oriented family.

"I was drawn to Sarah's work & studio, because it combines plant material and natural fibers"
